ailments obstinate, but hope they may be relieved --- The drops I hope
were of service but when long used they cease to be of use. They must therefore be laid
aside & intermitted for some time & again return to them. - You should try the Powders
I formerly gave you & for that purpose I have desired Mr Inglis to send you out
a Parcel in a vial leaving you to measure the doses yourself. You may
begin with a heaped tea spoonfull twice a day. If after some days this
agrees well with your Stomach increase the dose to a spoonful & 1/2 & to
two tea Spoonfuls & continue them for two or three weeks.

I have also ordered some pills of which you are to take two for a dose
at bedtime. They are intended to quiet the frequent irritation at the
the neck of the Bladder & thereby give you more rest --- If you
find they have this effect, you will incline to take them often, but
except it be for two or three nights at first & I would not have you take
them every night & only after bad rest --- If the Pills should bind
your
belly you must take care to keep it open. The Powders may do
this but if not you must have recourse to something else --------

For Mr Watson of OverMains ---------

Take a pound and a half of powdered leaves of bearberry; Label: Nephritic Powder to be taken as directed above ----- Take two drachms of powdered Laudanum, divide into twenty-four pills. Label: [Lenetory Pills?]
