Case of Lady Mackenzie Dowager, of Scatwells health

Lady Mackenzie has enjoyed pretty good health
from her Infancy till within these two or three years
past. She is rather corpulent & is about the Age of
two or three & fifty years old. She has had several
Children but none for above 20 years past. The
Disorder of health she complains of, & of which
she has now had the fifth return, is the want
of sleep
, & a constant swimming in her Head, to
such a degree that when under this distress She
cannot command thought to do almost any one
thing, & it has such an impression on her sight,
that she scarcely knows one at a few yards
distance
- Her appatite is very poor. Her
spirits are very low
, & her Colour is so bad that
her acquaintances would hardly know her to
be the same person she is, when in Health
. Some
Medicines have been prescribed to her in the Country
which she made use of, but found of little service.
