I am favoured with yours of the 6th just
now and am heartily concerned for your distress
I think your account is very distinct & I understand
it very well. I think it will be too late to send you
medicines from hence and I therefore write imme¬
diately as you may get what is necessary very good
from Dr Sanders at Bamf. I would advise you
you to apply immediately to the most pained
part of your back a blistering plaister of about
six inches long by four broad but it need not
be kept open as in case it gives you the relief
I expect it will, it will be better upon a return of
the pains to apply a fresh blister than it would
have been to keep any part of the first open by
way of Issue you mu must continue to keep your
belly rather open and for that purpose I have
sent you on t'other page a receipt for an Electuary
which I expect will answer very well and you
may have it very night from Bamf I have
also ordered some pills of w which you may take
two at bedtime but I would have you take
them only while your pains are severe, as by
repetition they may become familiar and less
effectual and therefore it will be best to take
them only every second or third night or seldom↑er↑
[Page 2]
if your pains allow They are liable to be a
little binding and if you observe that, you must
be more diligent in taking the Electuary.
While your pains continue so severe I cannot advise
the cold Bath but I hope the blister and pills
may prepare matters for it In the mean time
if your pains continue after the blister is healed
I would advise you to try a warm bath especially
about the end of a month Thes These are the
advices occurr to me at present but wou'd wish
to hear from you again soon and what ever is
in my power you may certainly depend upon
