Normalized Text
For Mr Taylor of Watten.
By his letter 7th past the measures formerly proposed
had had a good effect & I suppose that the return of
his complaints has been some tresspass in cold or exercise
I hope the discharge of blood may have ceased before now
but if it have not, let him take the following powders
twice a day not neglecting at the same time the flowers
of sulph. as often as the want of natural stools may
require. While any discharge of blood continues he
must take no bark, but when it is over he may
take bark to ʒii every day for a week or two together
I think the Regimen before advised still proper &
should not give over taking some milk tho he cannot
take it in such large quantity as he might wish.
Whey & buttermilk if not too sour are very proper for
him.
[Page 2]
Take 5 grains each of Russian Alum and Japanese Earth. Mix to make powder and in this way make 6 doses. Label: Astringent powders one to be taken twice a day in a little water berry. 2
X NB. If the discharge of blood continue, these powders
may be increased in their dose or continued for longer
than three days X
