For Miss Trail


After considering her complaints, find them not dan¬
gerous It not requiring nor admitting of any operation
But precautions must be taken ---


In Diet, avoid Salted meats, high seasoned, sparing
of fish eggs, cheese or butter. & hir ailment should
increase she must be sparing of all Animal food
& live mostly on Milk & Grains ----


No fermented or Spirituous Liquors -- Ordinary drink
Plain water. -- Tea & Coffee only if weak.


Never much heated by exercise &c or ----
use her arms much. --- Fresh air, Gentle exercise
on horse back may be of service to her, but
always guard against cold, particularly her
breasts, & she may wear a piece of fur on
each of them --


Avoid Costiveness - & if liable to it a dose of
Salts taken in a draught of fresh drawn whey but
not to purge

Take one ounce of ground leaves of dried water hemlock and one dracham each of Extract of Henbane and Extract of Liquorice. Soften with water required to make into a Mixture and divide into singular pills of four grains each. Label: Aperient Pills. Two every morning and night for a month together once or twice a year. To begin with a small dose and increase {illeg}.

home, if the pain behind shoulder become troublesome, apply a blister. [&?] only
once will not be enough. After the first is healed, & skin firm, apply a second,
& if the pain do not entirely go, apply a third -------
