For Collector Hunter

Considered attentively &c, & sorry to observe – not so
good as I could wish his health to be, nothing violent
however, soon I hope. Diet & exercise continued on
their present footing. Belly regular & for this the Cr.
of Tart.
& nitre still very proper but unless the Cr.
of T.
be taken in a large & disagreable dose it
hardly answers the purpose. I would have your (↑him↑)
father try sometimes the Castor oil or Ol. ricini.
We have it here in good condition fresh expressed
every week or 2 from the seeds. You may try half
an ounce or tablespoonful for a first dose in the
morning. Puzled about bloodletting, have not
forbid it, & yet of the same opinion as formerly &
especially considering the undefineable confusion
following it, & further from there being less ap¬
pearance of fullness in the vessels of the head &
[more?] appearance of Paralytic affection. Must
therefore advise to keep at least to the quantities lately taken.

[Page 2]

The appearance of the blood is very fallacious. If
his diet do not obviate the viscid state of it, no medicine
will & I advise to repeat the Cephalic Electuary
very often or rather when he does take it, to take
it in larger doses. The complaints which give him
most disturbance at present, that is the paralytic
affliction of
his face will be ill to remove but
by the means above mentioned & before advised as
adapted to his habit in general for they are only
symptoms of the general disease. However you
may try anointing with the oil below. But observe,
that the mouth drawn to the left side shows that the para¬
lytic affection
is on the right and therefore &c.
If this oil does not &c. try a small blister on
the right temple. ----

W.C.

Take 2 ounces of Olive Oil, 2 drachms of Lavender Oil, and a drachm of Caustic Spirit of Ammoniac Salt. Mix. Label: Oil for anointing right temple & cheek at bed time.
