Moffat June the 30th. 1786

Dear Sir

I have declined troubling you, with my thanks
for your exact, & kind direction's, till I cou'd give you some
account of my giving on here. I have now drank the waters
a fortnight, and have gradualy augmented the quantity but
have not yet come to the length of a Bottle, they agree
quite well with my Stomach, & give me an Appetite
I drink them at the Spring, and take an Airing after
when the weather permits; if not, my Servant brings the water to
me well corked, I have Bathed three times and will
according to your direction Bath twice a week since I have
drunk: & Bathed, the eruption has been more violent especially
the first week, it now begins to Subside a little, the Itching
is much less troublesome, & I sleep much better. My face is
yet very Scaly, my neck is better, but my Arms are Still bad
no other part of my Body is effected by the eruption
Mr. Mackdonald who I employ here, makes me wash the

parts affected three or four times every day with the
Moffat water. I am obliged to have recorse to the powders
about twice a week. my health & spirits are good, but
I begin to be impatient to get rid of my troublesome
and tedious Complaint. however I must have patience
par force and trust that by your wise advice, and the
use of these waters, I shall be free of my irksome
and obstinate Companion.

I keep most Strictly to the same diet. the Sherry I get
here is rather firing. the port is reckond good, which I wou'd
prefer on that account, if you think it advisable
I hope Mrs. Cullen receives benefit from the Country Air
my best wishes attends her. and am with true esteem

Dear Sir
Your obliged Humble Servant

Eliz Murray
