Since I wrote you I had the pleasure to
receive your favour of the 18th May, since that time I think I have
been much as formerly, but my friends inform me that the attacks are
less than before, but they happen as often as before sometimes I have an
interval of two, three, four, or five weeks, laterly I have in general had but
one attack at a time I have not such an inclination to vomit at the
time, but always have a great propensity to sleep, the attacks I have
had since I left you have been all in the day time, & for a month
past I have not had any of the disagreeable symptoms that I used
to have generally every day, but am now quite well between each fitt
I have a very good appetite & sleep as well as any Person can do,but
indeed I am grown tired of Vegetables & Milk as I am now near nine
months living upon them, I wou'd be glad to know if a bitt of Chicken
now & then wou'd be of any determent to me, in my last I beged to know
what kind of drink wou'd be most proper for me, but you omitted to
advise me. In two or three days I am to begin the fourth course of
the Pills which I hope will compleat the cure, as I wou'd fain hope to
be able to goe out to the West Indies in three or four Months, some time
back & thought not to goe out there again, but from some circumstances,
that have since occured I find I will be under the necesity, but if it
was pleased God th[at?] I w[as?] quite well I wou'd not be the least affraid

I look upon Barbadoes to be as healthy as this Climate, provided one
lives a regular life, as there never was one had a better state of health
there for five years than I had, & dont know what to impute my pre¬
sent disorder to as there cou'd not anyone live more temperate than
I did, but I hope with your help to shortly get the better of it, as
I wou'd much rather be out of the World than to have it continue
for any time, as besides the disagreeableness of having it to continue
it wou'd oblige me to leave Barbadoes when I am very happily situ¬
ated in the mercantile way I ↑wou'd↑ come here a perfect Stranger. I shoud
be much obliged for your answer by return of Post, & what your opinion
now is, as upon your judgement I place my whole dependance.
Sir Your Most Obedient Servant
The heat still continues I wou'd be
glad to know if it wou'd be proper for me
to take any medicine to take away the
eruptions, they are something drier than
before but still continue very itchy. I don't recollect whether I mentioned
to you that I did not pespire as much in the West Indies as I thought
was necessary, nor do I here pespire any.
