For the Countess of Dunmore
As your Complaints are constitutional I believe
they will be difficult to remove but I am very unwilling
to give up trying it. I think there is nothing more necessary
than keeping the Belly regular & I have therefore ordered
another laxative medicine which I hope may answer
better than the Electuary. However as I am uncertain
how it may agree with your Ladyship's stomach I have
ordered but a small quantity of it but the prescription
remains in the Laboratory & your Ladyship may have
the medicine renewed when you please. I have at the
same time ordered another medicine for throwing out the
heat & correcting the sharpness of the blood. It is a
medicine that sometimes causes a little sickness at
stomach but with a little of this the medicine has
better effects. However I have ordered a small that will
probably give your Ladyship no uneasiness but if
[Page 2]
you find that it does not give any sickness or squea¬
mishness at all I would have your Ladyship increase
the dose by degrees from one spoonful to two & I hope in
time it will have good effects
