Letter from William Hamilton, concerning the death of Mr Edward Brisbane about a week previously: he had undergone tapping successfully, but succumbed to a cough and asthma. The post-mortem examination found he had an enlarged spleen. His own father, Thomas Hamilton, is now so weak that he is confined to bed and dependent on opiates for rest.18 November 1781
