Mr Lockhart has been much in his
Ordinary state of health since he saw you, but
Till within these few days that his Spirits has
been bad owing to some disorder which has
taken away his apetite greatly & on Teusday night
about 3 or 4 a Clock he wakened in a Cold fit not
a trembling like the Ague but growings he calls
it, tho' I lay by him he did not waken me so I
can only tell it from himself it lasted about
an hour after which he fell into a Sweat, next
nights Wedensday he got a Saline Draught of
wormwood Salts & Vineagre for want of Lemons
& took some Sack whey he had no Cold fit but
a great Sweat & was prety well all yesterday but
kept the house he took sack whey at nights
but no Saline draughts & at the same hour he
took the Cold fit as before but still did not
waken me he had a great sweat & is pretty
easie today but is to take a draught both
this & tomorrow nights, we propose to leave
this on Wedensday but will not be at Inveresk
till Friday or Saturday unless you think
we should hurry in, or delay our going till

Mr L. is beter, but he is [a]nxious to get in, so I beg
you'll write me by first Post what we should do,
& if you think them saline Draughts are proper or
any thing else should be done
