Dear Sir

I hope you'l get as much time
from your great Avocations as to consider the
following Case, which I've enclosed - it is spun
out to too great at a length, but this you'l be kind e¬
nough to look over as I am not accustomed to
take down cases, and as the Patient is at such a
distance that you can not get any information
from himself.

I am Sorry you are to get so much
trouble for so small a Consideration, but this
owing to to the Man's only being of Moderate Circum¬
stances

The Patient has been attended, from the
beginning of his Illness, by an old Practitioner
who told me that the disease was "first an Irre¬
gular ague, and that about 15 days ago he
was seized with a Peripneumonia Notha"
these are his own words - But a very able
Surgeon in Dumfries, one M.r Blackstock, ↑who↑

[Page 2]

was consulted very lately, gave it as his opi¬
nion that the disease was entirely of a Bilious
nature, and that an Abscess was forming in
his Liver - and that every other Symptom
might be traced to that original -

I was only called yesterday, but declined
giving my opinion as to the nature of the disease
or even prescribe any Medicine till I had con¬
sulted you ↑& the case being so long astanding-↑ - Accordingly I beg you'l be so kind
as write me fully your opinion of the disease,
with the method of treatment in its different
stages

I have the honour to be, Dear Sir,
with the greatest respect, your most
Obedient most obliged humble Servant

is urgent
Lord Dalzell begs to be remem
bered to you -- RA
