[Co]py of Mr George Dunbar's case written
by himself.

On mon[day] morning about four o' Clock I
was in a moment seased with a very acute
pain in the left side of my back about two
or three Inches from my haunch bone. I was
able to walk about the most of the day towards
evening. It became very painful & came down
the length of my knee which was as painful
as my back. Tuesday my knee swelled a
little & the pain in the knee& left side of my
back was so painful that I could scarce
suffer it to be touched with my finger & could
not put out or draw in my leg & thigh without
the assistance of both my hands & in doing of
that the pain was very great, nothing can
exceed the pain I have endured since tuesday
About two o'Clock in the Afternoon & it still
continues. For some weeks before this
happened I found the inside of my thighs a
little hotter than the rest of my body with
some pains through them but would not last
long but often returned. I had often in my legs
& arms Spasmodic Contractions with a
singing noise in the back part of the head &
often troubled with deafness. Just now I hear
tolerable well & if it was not for the excessive
pain I find less Complaints than I did
before the pain happened. These two months
I have been much bound in my belly &
very seldom got a stool without a little
Tinctura Sana or a single pill called
Anderson's Pills. This you will lay
before Dr. Cullen & get his advice & send
me as soon as possible.
