For Mrs Ascough
It may be difficult to make Mrs Ascough very
strong but it is hoped that her present complaints
may be relieved by the following remedies
1. Let her take one of the strengthening pow¬
ders in a little water three times a day that is
about half an hour or a little more before breakfast
dinner and supper, washing down each dose with a
a glass of Hartfell or Pyrmont Water.
2. If after taking these powders for a fortnight
the ailment is not removed let them be laid aside
and in place of them let her take thirty drops of
the strengthening Balsam in a glass of ↑Canary↑ water three
times a day and these doses are also to be washed
down with a glass of Pyrmont or Hartfell Water.
This course to be continued for a month
3. Along with these remedies Mrs Ascough
[Page 2]
should take frequent gentle exercise on horseback
or in a carriage. Much walking is very bad for
her.
4. Nothing will be of more service than cold
bathing frequently used in the morning.
5. In diet Mrs Ascough must avoid all kinds of
fish and much garden things particularly the
colder and more flatulent kinds.
[Page 3]
Take two scruples of prepared crab's eyes and five grains of powdered cinnamon. Mix, make into a powder and let fourteen doses be made in this way. Label: Strengthening Powders.
Take one ounce of balsam of guaiacin. Label: Strengthening Balsam.
