Sir


I hope you'll excuse my giving you So much trouble
by writing, - Baillie Rodger was siezed yesterday
afternoon with a Palsy of the right Side of
his Body, which deprived him of his Speech,
& continued So for Several hours, he was
blooded, had a Blister applied to his head &
all other things commonly used in Such cases
were applied, as friction with theol. Volat. &
he has partly recovered his Speech, & the
Natural heat of the affected side is
Returned, & the Motion of the Extremities of
yethe affected parts
is much easier, the Wieght
at his Sternum is much abated, and also the
Swelling of his Legs, he made a great deal
of urine all thursday night, & friday forenoon,
& has rather made More of it, since he was
attacked with the Paralytic Stroke, he
has continued the Pilul. Scillit. but not in
Such Quantity's as you ordered Suppose they
do not affect his Stomach, nor intestines,
his urine is very limpid, without any↑very little or no↑ Sediment,
at all, but changes very often, sometimes higher
coloured, he walks with more agility than
usual on account of the decrease of the
Swelling of his Legs - his appetite is no
worse, but no better, continues at the opiate
as he gets no Sleep without it.

He has taken two of the Pills this forenoon
& he has rather made less Urine all this day
than Yesterday, the Hand & Fingers of the affected
Side
. are a little Swelled, feels a Tingling
thro his hand, & Fingers, but is not like to get
the Use of his hand, & fingers, the Tongue on
the affected Side is a little Swelled, & Stiff
his pulse Since he turned ill of this Complaint
is a good Deal better
, is rather too full, but
is very right with regard to Quickness-
I hope you'll excuse all the above with
regard to the fullness & as its just wrote as
the Patient Dictates, he expects an answer
with Compliments to yourself & Dr Cullen -
