For the Earl of Errol

Each paper of the Sarsaparilla is to be boiled in two chopins of water till one is
boiled away & when that is near done one paper of the materials is to be added &
after a few minutes the whole is to be removed from the fire & drained thro'
a table napkin –––

One bottle of this is to be druny (↑k↑) every day in such draughts
& at such times as are most agreeable to his Lord-ship. ––

One of the pills is to be taken every night & morning. In a larger dose
these pills are liable to disturb the stomach & therefore we begin with the dose

[Page 2]

mentioned but if the one pills does not affect the Stomach the dose may
be increased to two or more & this may be done especially at night ––

During this Course I have no other Injunction to give but to abstain
from Fish & all salted Meats. In other respects we My Lord may live as
formerly.

I wish his Lordship could recover his habit of Walking & I ima¬
gine it might be done by taking a certain measured walk that does
not heat him & afterwards increasing that every two days by a small
proportion. ––
