For Lords Stonfields Son
Mr Alexander
Tho the young Gentleman seems just now to
be in very good health in every respect but in
having a cough. But as this cough has now conti¬
nued for a long time & as he is approaching to a
a time of life when such an ailment is liable to
prove Dangerous & as their has been some appear¬
ances in his Constitution that give suspicions
from all these considerations we think it will
be prudent to take some precautions against
what may happen. To this purpose we pro¬
pose.
1. That he should have a pea Issue put in to
his left arm & kept open till either the Cough
is gone or he is past the hasardous time of life
[Page 2]
2. That he should for some time weeks at
this season take every morning a dose of the
Aperient Salts prescribed on the paper
that comes along with this.
3. That his diet ought to be managed so that
he takes no animal food at supper & even at
dinner very little and that of ↑the↑ lightest kinds &
particularly very little fish, making up his
meal with weak broth, Vegetables & grain of
all kinds.
4. That he should go to the Country for the
most of summer & particularly for the first part
when he can have a good course of Goat Whey
5. That while he is in Town he should not
be Confined to the house nor sit there too closely.
That he should frequently go abroad that he
should have hours of relaxation & that he should
ride as often as may be convenient & when he
goes to the Country he should ride a great deal
