Mr. John Gordon
Dear Sir
I have considered your full Account
of Mr. Gordons Ailments and am sorry to find
he has still so much complaint. I have the
same opinion of their nature as I had before
and think the Prescription I gave before
would still be very proper, and that he
should still take it at times, and to avoid
being too laxative he should take it in
smaller doses.
The present Season is very unfavou¬
rable both to his Complaints and to the
use of Medicine but I give you on other
page a prescription which I hope he may
make use of with Safety and return {illeg}
may take it for a week at one time only
but during the Winter and Spring he
[Page 2]
may frequently take a course of it.
I dont find that his diet can be
better ordered than it as at present. When
any thing new occurrs with respect to him
I shall be ready to advise as well as I can
I am always
Dear Sir
Your most Obedient Servant

Label: Diaphoretic pills; three to be taken every night at bed time washing them down with a cup of the following infusion to be made fresh every afternoon
Take two drachms of Sarsaparilla Root, two drachms of {illeg} Sassafras and two drachms of crushed Liquorice Root. Having crushed it very minutely, pour over it four ounces of boiling water. Let it digest for four hours and strain. Label: Diaphoretic infusion; to be taken with the pills at bed time.
