For Miss Forbes.

After considering Dr. Skenes History and her
own account of her Complaints, we are clearly of opinion
that it is absolutely necessary for her safety that
she repairs as quickly as possible to a Southern
Climate.

At this Season a great length of Journey by
land would be very hazardous and therefore we Advise
her going to Lisbon whither we suppose she may
go from London by Sea though if an opportunity
does not Offer from London of her going from
thence very soon instead of lingering long there
She must go either by land or water to Falmouth
to take the Packet there.

In this Course her chief care must be to
avoid cold by warm Cloathing and otherwise to avoid
being exposed to it.

It is further necessary for Miss Forbes to

[Page 2]

keep to a cool and light diet avoiding Animal food
as much as possible. A diet of grain and fruit may
be easily provided for a short Voyage. No drink
but water or watery liquors such as Gruel or
Barley water are proper.

It is from the Regimen mentioned and a
change of Climate that Miss Forbes is to expect
her relief and recovery and few medicines can be of
Service but we have prescribed One on the inclosed
paper which we hope may be useful during her
Journey and Voyage

For Miss Forbes

Take three drachms of Liquorice extract, two scruples of the best Myrrh and one scruple of Balsam of Tolu. Into the extract, in small and concise amounts, pour a sufficient quantity of hot water to soften it, and grind it into a pulp, then add the rest of the thin powder, then a sufficient quantity of water to make a mass to be divided into single pills of five grains.
