Miss Stuart Dempster
Particulars since last advice & state of her pulse just
[now?] wanted.
As her present cough is imputed to a fresh cold I hope
it will have no consequence, but if her pulse is tolerably
full and has any hardness or frequency I should think
the taking a little blood from her arm might be a
proper precaution. If Mrs Dempster is right in imputing
her cough to the drying up of the running behind her
he ears it will be proper to take some pains to bring
back the discharge and [slips?] of {illeg} wax plaister or
colewart leaves will probably answer the purpose.
If the do not it will be proper to put an issue in
her back or arm. I {illeg} dare say the Scantness of
of her Menses has a bad effect upon her health &
it will be very proper to encourage the discharge
when it appears and this may be done with most
safely by water glyster every evening upon the
approach {illeg} and coming on and during the appe¬
rance of the evacuation - For the most part the
[Page 2]
glyster may be water alone but sometimes
according to the state of her belly and other circum¬
stances it may have half a dram of Asafœtida
dissolved in it -
