Miss Mitchell. Kircudbright

The case not full enough; but in the mean time I have
formed an opinion & sent a Prescription; which Mr Walker
& Dr. Gilchrist will judge if it is suited to the case. Other¬
wise I expect to hear from Dr Gilchrist a full account
of the Case & I shall advise accordingly.

Take an ounce of Sarsaparilla root, a drachm of bark of Mezereon root, and two pints of spring water. Cook down to a pint, about the end adding half-an-ounce of grated Liquorice root. Having strained it, Label: Specific Decoction; a muchkin to be taken in divided draughts in the course of twenty-four hours.

The Mezereon must be good, & the quantity of the Decoction taken
increased gradually til she take a bottle every day. If it feel very
warm at first upon her stomach, diminish the Mezereon to ½ a drachm
to the Pound but increase it by degrees till she can bear
two drams in every bottle.
