To Miss Greigson Concerning Miss


The Medicine ordered below to be taken for a fortnight - then inter¬
mitted for a month - a 2d course for a fortnight - then intermit
two months & after that a 3d Course. She should contrive it so as to
finish the Courses always before an alteration is expected.


Diet should be light - No Indian Tea nor Coffee. If she takes Cocoa
Tea it should be with a large proportion of milk - At supper no solid
food, hardly ever an Egg. - Drink toast water. -- After Dinner
she may be allowed a glass of Port with 2 or 3 glasses of Water --
She should go early to bed and not lie long abed in the morning


She will be much the better of fresh air & gentle exercise

on horseback or in a Carriage -- She should avoid being
ever much heated by exercise or warm Chambers &cc
Bodily exercise very bad for her particularly dancing.
When an Alteration approaches great care must be
taken to avoid much motion, heat &c & she should about
that time lie much upon a bed or Couch.

To Miss

Take an ounce of powdered Peruvian bark, two drachms of prepared steel, a drachm of nutmeg, an ounce of conserve of rose - enough syrup of orange peel to make a bland Electuary. Label Strengthening Electy the bigness of a Nutmeg twice a day washing down each dose with a small Cupfull of the following

Take a drachm of crushed Peruvian bark, a drachm each of orange and cinnamon. Leave to soak in a pound of boiling water for twelve hours, then add tincture of Peruvian bark
