Mr Cokayne Concerning Mrs Cokayne

At the approach of a Period you must take care and
keep
↑that↑ her belly ↑be↑ regular and if not it must be opened by
an Aloetic Pill: or if the period and pain come on
before you are aware of it, you should immediately
by a Laxative Glyster procure a discharge by stool.
When this is done you must give her a pretty
large dose of L.L. & if not sufficient to relieve
her pain you must repeat it in 4 or 6 hours &
& this I would venture to repeat the L.L. so as
to moderate very entirely the pains for the first
two days of Menstruation --- At the same time you
must give once or twice a day Emollient Glysters,
more or less laxative as occasion may seem to
require. It will also be of service to set her feet &
legs in warm water for an hour or two together,
once or twice a day. If you can thus get the better of
the Spasms of the Uterus for the first two days I hope
afterwards matters will proceed in a more
proper and regular way than they have used to do
I shall say no more till I hear from you, how
matters have proceeded by the measures above
advised.
