For Mr James Donaldson


Nerves affected - mind more than body. - if not soon
remedied may pass into Idiotry or Madness ---


repair to the Country where he should take constant exercise
use cold bathing, and avoid cold & fatigue ---


Diet plain ordinary fair - great moderation both in
eating & drinking --


Costiveness carefully to be avoided - If necessary by the
Pills No 1. ---- The only other medicine is the Pills No 2.

No 1. Take two drachms of Aloetic pill mass. Divide into twenty-four pills. Label: Laxative Pills, one or two to be taken at bed time.

No 2. Take half a drachm of Camphor, a drachm of hard white Sugar Add a few droplets of rectified Ppirit of wine; crush into powder and to this add half a drachm of Myrrh, a drachm of Asafoetida, three drachms of Spanish soap, and enough Elixir proprietatis to make a Mass, to be divided into individual pills of four grams each. Label: Cephalic Pills, three to be taken at night.
