Normalized Text
Mr Inglis of Murdiston.
Take an ounce of Tartar Crystals, a drachm of Composite Jalap Powder, ½ an ounce of Lenitive Electuary, and enough Simple Syrup to make a thin electuary or linctus. Label: Laxative Electuary
The above is the Laxative I recommend for you.
The dose may be a teaspoonful in the morning an
hour before breakfast. This will give you one stool in the
course of the day but if not, take two spoonfuls the
next morning, or if that does not answer, take even
three –– If this does not do I shall order something else.
[Page 2]
Such a dose as you find to answer you should take
every second or third day as you find occasion; & you
should never go two days without a stool.
Moderation in eating and drinking; and
avoiding riding or walking unless the most gentle.
Continue the dashing of the cold water every mor¬
ning & take the shower bath those morning
you dont take the electuary. You may in the
month of June try Sea bathing for a month or
more, but not in a fresh water river. Goat whey
is not of so much consequence to you as Seabathing
you will therefore seek your summer quarters
with a view to this; but if it is a place where
you can get also goat whey, tis so much the better
