Mr Mack Concerning Mr Ancrum


I am sorry to find he has so much cause of complaint
particularly the want of sleep which must affect his Spirits
Not fond of relieving this by Opiates and
would rather recommed his taking a Journey, at 40
or 50 Miles a day for two or three days continuance which
may probably give him sleep. But if this has not the
desired effect, you must have recourse to Opiates, but you
must go further than you have done and give him not
less than 30 Drops of Tinct Thebaica or as much of
of the Pilul. Japonacæ as contains a grain of Opium
