For Mr Scrymgeor.


1. Let him take the bigness of a horse bean of the
Anthelmintic Electuary, every morning an hour
before breakfast and again in the Evening an hour
before supper.


2. Every fifth day he is to intermit the Electuary
& to take one of the purging powders mixed with a little
currant jelly and washed down with a little warm tea.
If this dose give him two or three stools it is enough
but if it do not give him more than one, he is for the
next time to join one of the compound with one of the
purging powders & if even that do not give him two
or three stools he is for the third and fourth times
to mix a paper and a half of the compound powder
with each of the Purging powders.


3. When he has thus taken the Electuary for 16
days and the purging powders four times he is
to take no more medicine till he shall inform
me of the effects of what he has then taken.


4. During thr course of these medicines he is to
live with respect to diet, in his ordinary way & only
taking care to keep his stomach light and on the
days he takes the powders to avoid fruit and
garden things.


5. At all times, and particularly on the

purging days he is to guard carefully against
cold.

Take two ounces of Powdered tin, one and a half drachms of Sal Martis, one and a half ounces of Conserve of roses and a sufficient quantity of simple Syrup to make an Electuary. Label: Anthelmintic Electuary: the bigness of a horse bean twice a day.

Take half a drachm of Powdered jalappa compound and five grains of Calomel. Mix to make a powder and in this way let there be four doses. Label: Purging powders.

Take half a drachm of Powdered jalappa compound. In this way let there be four doses. Label: Compound powders.
