For Mr Reid
Complaints depend upon a Scorbutic taint. I advise the
following.
1. As soon as thire is any fresh weather in the
Month of February let him begin to use the Decoction
& Drops ordered below. -- Of the Decoction a bottle
in 24 hours at times most agreeable only reserve one
Draught to be taken at bedtime with a Dose of the
Drops - He may continue the Decoction for a fortnight -
unless a Sharp Frost sets in when he should intermit
it & wait for milder weather as the Spring advances.
Altho no frost sets in, he should take the Decoction only
for a fortnight at one time intermitting for a week
& repeat thus repeat a fortnights Course three or
four times during the Spring.
The Dose of the Drops at first fifty to be taken
in the Draught of the Decoction at bedtime & the drops are
to be taken only while he is taken the Decoction
If this Dose of the Drops does not affect his
Stomach with any Squeamishness, he may increase
the Dose of the Drops by five at a time till he
can take a 100 ---
His Diet
[Page 2]
