Normalized Text
Mr Robert Redpath Surgeon. Berwick
I think the Gleet cannot be of any consequence nor
give any suspicion of lurking virulence. If you are certain
of all coming from the Urethra you may inject a weak
Solution of the Saccharum Saturni, about a gram or two
to the Ounce; but I suspect that what you observe
is from the Corona Glandis and for that you may wash
with a stronger Solution of the Same kind as of five
Grains to the Ounce.
The Tumour on the Raphe I dont believe to
be Venereal nor will believe it to be so till some
other Venereal Symptoms appear & there can be
no danger in delaying measures till the Case is
more clear. Any use of Mercury at this season
must be hazardous & inconvenient & I would by
all means forbid it. -- The Decoction of Guaiac
may be continued; but I have no faith in it.
I dont think any thing else necessary, but
if I did I should th prefer the Sarsa & Mezereon
to the Guaiac - Tumour-whatever it is may be touched
with the Mercurial Ointment; but sparingly at
this Season as even a small quantity frequently repeated may
get to the Mouth - Let your Patient be less appre¬
hensive and I shall answer for the consequences
