For Mrs Thomson of Charlton

Take 15 grains of Gum Guaiacum and ½ a drachm of white lump Sugar. Rub together thoroughly, then add 3 drachms of Gum Arabic paste. Again rub together thoroughly, and gradually pour over ½ an ounce of Simple Cinnamon Water and 2 ounces of Rose Water. mix. Label: Laxative Draught to be taken in the morning when occasion requires

Take a drachm of Volatile Elixir of Guaiacum and a little egg yolk. Rub together and gradually add pour over 1½ ounces of Peppermint Water, 2 drachms of Simple Syrup, and more or less than 40 drops of Thebaic Tincture. Mix. Label: Anodyne Draught. At bed-time frequently with but sometimes without the Tincture.


1. Let a perpetual Issue be put between her shoulders. 2 Frequently
a warm bath for her whole body –– 3 If the above Draught does not procure
rest let her sometimes take a Dose of Dovers Powder – 4 In mild weather
some brisk Exercise in a carriage will be of service 5. Rubbing
the Limbs with a flesh Brush every morning will be very
usefull.

frequently with but sometimes without the Tincture.
