To Mr. Murray Surgeon Kirkaldy

I wrote you some time ago a letter which you have never yet acknowledged
at least you do not say what were the effects of anodyne injections or of the application
of the Anodyne Balsam which I proposed in that letter. I find by yours of the 21st that
while many circumstances are mended the looseness has again recurred & for that
I would trust more to the Anodyne Injections than any thing else, I make them
of 3 drams of Gum Arabic dissolved in 3 drams of water & to this I add 50 or 60
Drops of Laudanum & give the Injection not very warm. I see no room for saying
further at present,

and am &c.
