The Revd Mr Duff old Meldrum↑Aberdeen↑ Concerning his Wife

I have reid yours of the 8th & have again transmtted consi¬
dered the case formerly transmitted to me & neither that nor your last
letter gave me any grounds for changing my opinion that the Case
is purely Rheumatic; but I must own that the continuance of the
Disease & constant sweatings you mention give some suspicion
of a Suppuration going on about the Hip Joints. This I think
several of the Profession at Aberdeen mght be able to judge &
to say whether or not the feverish State attending puts on the
proper appearance of Hectic & if it does it would confirm the
Suspicion last mentioned. I am very willing to advise for Mrs
Duff, but wish to delay it, till you can send some account from
an able hand of the state of things with respect to the suspicion
stated & in general a Physicians view & account of the whole
circumstances of the Case.
