To Edward Burrow Esqr.

I am favoured with yours yesterday & shall be Glad to contribute
to your Sons relief but must say that to advise to good purpose it would
be proper for me to have some more Exact Information of the Circum¬
stances of his Complaints. In the meantime I have given a prescrip¬
tion on the other page which I think may both relieve pains &
moderate purging. It is a medicine that he could not properly prepare
himself & therefore I have prescribed in our {illeg}. At Kil¬
marnock they are very well provided both with Physicians &
medicines & particularly I can trust Dr Tough with any thing
of this kind. Before your Son enters upon the medicine I have
prescribed he should take a gentle vomit of Ipecacuana & he
should take great care of diet drinking & Cold. If any medicine
shall happen to bind him too much this must be obviated by a
dose of Magnesia or some other laxative. But I must conclude
as I began with saying that to order all things properly I
must have more full Information
