Tho Mr Marjoribanks complaints are of the
most distressing kind, I hope they shall have no distressing
consequence & shall be relieved very soon by the
following measures.

Let him take every morning a dose
of the aperient solution. The dose should
move his belly once a {illeg} day & if it does
either less or more it must encreased or
diminished. He must by no means
indulge either the indolence or [solids?]
that he is disposed to. He should get up
in time to take his solution & every
forenoon he he should get on horseback
& ride gently for three or four hours.
As soon as he is settled at home he
may begin the cold bath employing the
shower bath & tempering the water
at first by putting one part of boiling
water by (↑to↑) putting two three of spring water
& keeping out a part of the boiling water
every day afterwards till he comes to
take it quite cold.

He must always take the bath in the
morning before he begins to take the solution
His diet must continue very {illeg}

present. He may take a bit of meat every
day at dinner, but it should be of the
lighter kinds & very moderate in quantity
& the greatest part of his meal should
be of both puding vegetables He should
