For Mrs Commissary Ker.
The most proper measure of a journey of three or four
weeks - For the sake of the roads Inns & Climate, should
go to England.
Take very moderate journies, at first - & never above
three Stages a day - It is not travelling fast, but a continu¬
ed moderate rate for some time; that will be of service
The Chaise must be very close & tight & in every
respect to gaurd carefully against cold – Not travel in
wet weather – & Warm chamber but not small –
Carry her bed linnen along with her ––
Diet much as it has been lately – A bit of
light meat every day at dinner & this safer on the
journey than at home;– but still fill up her meal
with broth pudding & Vegetables. – Supper, milk
& grain or gr either alone –– Breakfast Tea &
bread & butter as formerly but be sparing of the
last article. - Drink Water, water gruel Barley
water, Milk & Water – No fermented or Spirituous
liquors – Few medicines can be of service but take the
following – Take along with her a quantity of Gum Arabic
divided into ounces &c.
Take one ounce of Gum Arabic, half an ounce of Candied Sugar, and two ounces of boiling water. Mix and strain; to the strained liquid add two teaspoonfuls of Lemon Juice. Label: Mixture, two (↑half a↑) table spoonfulls, several times towards Evening & thro the night if awake.
