Miss Milmer


Harrowgate waters a promising remedy therefore --


In the morning before breakfast.


In divided draughts an interval of 20 minutes
or half an hour between each, walking about in the
mean time


At first, a quarter of a Pint & the first day two
such draughts, but afterwards they are to be increased
both in quantity & number – till she can take 4 half
pints in a morning but the draught should never be more than
half a Pint. --


Not to go so far if the water does not sit easily on her
stomach
otherwise to go as far as she can continuing at
least for 3 or 4 weeks.


At the same time bathing necessary The bath to be a
semicupium
, the heat as much as she can bear. To
continue in the bath at first for 15 minutes afterwards
to half an hour or more, keeping up the heat of the water


The first week bathe twice – The 3d week & 4th
three times – The time 6 or 7 in the Evening, keeping
her Chamber for the rest of the evening.


Exercise to be joined with bathing, guarding against
cold. ---- Little change of Diet. At Dinner always some
soup & avoid cold & flatulent vegetables.


Till the Harrowgate Waters have effect the Purging Pills
to have of to be continued -

August 17th 1776.

Take half a drachm of Socotrine Aloes, 10 grains each of Gamboge and Calomel, and enough Gum Arabic paste to make a mass to be divided into pills of 5 grains each. Label: Purgative Pills 3 for a dose {illeg}
