For Mr Strachan.

Happy to hear that he submits to the cold bath so early. tho the benefit
do not appear much yet, we must not despair, so persist in it.
Better pour upon head neck & shoulders & let it run down over his
body, then immersion in a tub., & may be made more effectual by
dashing it on from a greater & a greater distance, & may be rendered
colder therefore more effectual, by dissolving salt &cc. This as good
as a chamber bath. Altho the last may have its conveniencies, not ne¬
cessary to provide till he return to his own house towards winter.

[Page 2]
Tho the pills do not seem to have been very effectual in procuring
rest they should not be laid aside lest the dose rather increased
to 4 or 5. His Antimony diet & drink, strictly as before.
