Mrs Thorp.


When she gets home to take 3 of the Pills infra 1
every night & morning increase or decrease as occasion requires.


If the increased dose of them does not keep her belly
regular she must take a little Castor Oil ––


Diet moderate quantity of Animal food & a large
proportion of Vegetable - avoiding the flatulent or
acescent. – No fresh Eggs or Cheese, & little farinacea


Drink Plain Water or a small proportion of
Spirits in it. No malt liquors, hardly any wines, but
the stronger a little of. No Indian Tea, or Coffee
but Cocoa Tea best. Milk doubtfull
at least in moderate quantity if any ––––


Fresh air & exercise avoiding cold &c.


If in spite of all these measures a fit of Cholic
should come on – let her take directly the Glyster infra
after her rendering it 30 drops of L L. in a little brandy
& Water. – I wish to have the Glyster rendered first but
if that is not soon & the pains are urgent she must take
the L. L. & if the pains continue or (↑&↑) increase she must
repeat the L. L. an hour or two after. –


If she can sit at the approach of the Cholic let her
feet
& legs be put into warm water for ½ hour. if not
let them be fomented &c.

Take a half drachm each of Electuary of Ground rhubarb and English Crocus, two drachms of Spanish Soap and enough orange peel Syrup to make a mass to be divided into pills of five grains each. Label Aperient Pills three every morning increasing or decreasing

X For the Glyster

Three quarters of warm water, four Table spoonfuls of Florence Oil & two table spoonfuls of Asafœtida. Mix & give them pretty warm for a Glyster. The Solution of Asafœtida is to be made as follows. Two drachms of best Asafœtida. Rub well, dissolve in four ounces of Pennyroyal Water. Strain through paper.
