To Mr Lamont Q. Major Sandilands


The Dropsical & Asthmatic Symptoms are
ugly appearances but as those has been so much of
a of Nervous affection in the Case that I hope the
Topical affections are not yet considerable --
Tho tho Dropsical Symptoms are not the chief
in this case, yet we insist by all means study to
relieve them and which I think must be attempted
by Diuretics. 1st Syrupus Coloch. a dram om v. & m. 1
If these doses have no sensible effect, they ↑doses↑ may
be given three or four times a day & afterwards
increase each does to ʒiſs or ʒij - If this medicine
be Diuretic altho it may trouble his bowels
no great matter - but if it trouble his
bowels & does not prove Diuretic it must
be laid aside. If he is costive (as commonly)
under this medicine it must be obviated by the
Pulv e jal compt. & add ʒj Crem tart. to ℥ſs of
the P. e j Compt. if this does not answer

you must have recourse to Ol. Ricin.


For relieving the Asthmatic attacks. Camphire
& Salt of Hartshorn.
