Reverend Mr Gordon about Mr McFarlane

To refractory that my advice ineffectual. If possible
to persuade or force him, continue the soluble Tartar &
Camphor but if he cannot, try a solution of Tartar Emetic which
has no taste & may be therefore mixed with plain water or any
liquid, any time night or day. Begin it with 1/2 a grain
for a dose, increasing till it purge moderately & continue
at that degree for several days together, or at least till
it be observed to have some or no effect on his brain
Cant understand you have bungled the waistcoat

Directions for making the waistcoat & tying his
feet pro re nata 1

Notes:

1: 'As the circumstance arises'. No such 'Directions' are recorded in the casebook, but they were presumably supplied with the actual letter sent.
