Mr Dirom offers his best compliments to Dr. Cullen, and
is much obliged to him for his particular attention to
his case. --

Mr Dirom removed from Muiresk to Banff ten days ago
in a chaise when the roads were very rough and hard with
frost, and felt no inconvenience. Next day however some
blood came off with his urine in the forenoon, but it
soon disappeared, and there has been no blood in the
urine
since -- the discharge of the Slimy stuff also
seems to be lessen -- but he has almost a constant
irritation or desire to make water
, and a violent pain
for sometime after it is made, which for two months past
has cut up his nights rest into hours, and sometimes
into half hours and quarters
, and he must fall to the
violence of that excruciating pain, if nothing can be
done to alleviate it.

As to the Instrument for making the mephytic
Alkaline water
, which has been sent by the carrier, it
is very uncertain when it may get this length in the

present stormy weather, or of it shall come safe, when
it does arrive. -- If it is the same sort of Instrument
with which they make Seltzer Water, there are several of
these in this Town, of which Mr Dirom can get the use;
but the means and method of obtaining this water, being
referred to books, of which no copy is here, we remain
in total ignorance about it.

As Mr Fothringham is in the country at present, Mr
Dirom has used the freedom to address this to the Doctor
himself
