Dear Sir

I enclose you Dr. Cullen's
letter upon your case with a Copy of his
prescription, which gave you relief, as you
may remember, at the time. I have not much
to add, but that upon the return of your dis¬
order in February, you had recourse to the Dr.'s
Pills, & also a blister without the like success.
Upon this I advised you to take a drachm of the London Paregoric Elixir in a draught at bed time. You
sweated profusely the night following, & found
yourself better the next day; & by using this
draught 3 or 4 times were much relieved, so
as to undertake your journey to Berwick,
having a supply of both your medicines to be
used discretionally. It may be proper to ac¬
quaint the Doctor that the Pills do not keep
you open enough, but that you find a small
dose of Glauber's Salt
to answer the purpose

[Page 2]

very well –– I think you right in taking the
opportunity of consulting Dr. Cullen again,
& wishing you benefit from his advice, I
remain, with compliments to the Doctor,

your obedient humble servant
St. Pemberton ––
Newcastle
