Sir

I did not intend to
have troubled you till I could have
informed you of the effect of the
issue; but some of Mrs. Orr's friends
upon seeing your letter and
that you had forgot some of the
circumstances of the Case insist
that I shall write you and remind
you of them -- it is About eight
or ten Months since she first obser¬
ved a giddiness which increased
pretty quickly and was at first ac¬
companied with considerable pain
of the head; and her pulse was rather
more quick and smart than usual
-

[Page 2]

She was at that time blooded both
with leeches and in the jugular
and had a blister applied to her
head which was bathed afterwards
with cold Water and she took the
bark freely - but excepting that
the pain of the head was removed
by the bloodings she was bene¬
fited in no other respect by this
treatment - She has all along
had the Menses in the usual quan¬
tity and at the proper times; nor
does the Complaint appear to arise
from the Stomach for she enjoys a
pretty good appetite - she feels no
giddiness when she is at rest; bu[t]

[Page 3]

as soon as she rises or moves she
is instantly Affected with it - can
this proceed from a fluid undulating
in the
Ventricles of the brain?

I return You my best Thanks
for your information respecting Con¬
cussion
and for the permission
of putting questions to You. {illeg}
a very great priviledge and
which I will venture sometimes to
make use of; but were I to give
myself full scope I doubt it would
prove a very troublesome one to
You.

I have had a Case of Tetanus where
the cold bath was used but which end¬
ed fatally - if you wish to have the
particulars let me know.

I am Sir with
the proper respect your most humble Servant
Alexr. Taylor.
