For Mr Whitaker of Manchester

Take one ounce of Burdock root, two drachms of peel and root of Mezeron, cook in three pounds of water and reduce to two, before at the end adding one drachm of sweet Fennel seeds and an ounce of shaved Root of Liquorice. Strain and Label: Diaphoretic Decoction. A quart to be drank every day for a fortnight or three weeks.
