Dear Sir --
You may remember a Gentleman, by the name of Browne
who once consulted you at Dunn's Hotel, and came two or
three times afterwards to visit you at your house,
for a complaint in his Stomach about two years ago,
that Gentleman now requests your advice by letter,
being unable to come to Edinburgh so soon as he could
wish ------- The pain in my stomach is some¬
times more violent then at other some, but generally
very uneasy and hot about the pit - With a constant
heart-burn after eating, my Stomach is often times
so disturbed, that I feel as if I was bursting, I am
very often sick, generally in a morning --- My stools are
very irregular, sometimes once in two and three day's with
great pain, and the excrement passes in little lumps -
I have now stated my case which you will agree is a

very unpleasant one, and the sooner I am in possession of
your answer, the nearer I shall be it relief, which if I am so
fortunate as to obtain will be gratefully acknowledg'd by
