Dear Doctor

This is about the time that I had set
for going to the South upon your plann and I will be
ready by the end of the Month perhaps sooner to pursue
that scheme if you persevere. ---

I thought to have gained more ground by the Summer.
My legs were much swelled by the time I got to Holytown
the day after I left you and have continued more or less
so. My head achs more constant and more serious, especially
in the night. I never wake but with a headach. I drink
my poution in bed relieves the former but irritates the latter.

Yesterday was worse than usual in the day time And yet
relieved by 2 hours sleep. Writing is bad for my head ach
even where the business is easy and pleasant much more so you
may believe when it is otherwise And it has been my misfortune
to interest myself too anxiously in the difficulties of my friends.

This last is my great motive to get myself away, I propose
to travell soberly, with my own chaise and horses and to proceed,
or not as I find it agrees with me, to take Bath a few weeks
by the way for a few weeks And then to land myself where
you please for the Winter. Pray consider of it and give me your
directions, with your first convenience. Mrs. B. only of the party
She joins me in best compliments to you and to all the family

Dear Doctor

Your RB

Capelrig Wensday. ---

PS. Mrs. B. has received a kind letter from
your niece Mrs. Lindsay and she or I
will write her soon.
