Dear Sir

I reciev'd yours on Friday last and
Mr. Bates accordingly took the Vomit yesterday,
which operated very well and open'd him once;
what he threw up, had no particular appearance
This Morning he began the Electuary and Infusi¬
on, has been moderately open'd, and shall re¬
gularly go on with the Course - As I observ'd be¬
fore; ever since he left Edinburgh, he has com¬
plain'd of frequent Cramps in his Legs and after
one more violent than usual, his right Leg in
the Night began to swell immediately above the
Ancle
attended with great Pain and the middle
of the left Foot
is this Morning a little inflam'd
and sore to the Touch and he now feels less Pain
in his Bowels - His Stools are generally inclin¬
able to a white Colour but not in any great de¬
gree - As I wish you to have every Information
in my Power, have taken the earliest opportu¬
nity of communication this new appearance and

am with great Regard your obedient Servant
