Dear Sir


The case of a gentleman was
laid before you last week who has a cancerous
excrescence on his under lip; which occupies
the whole of it, & comes down a great way
on his Chin - The hardness comes down to the
bottom of the Chin & extends from each corner
of the Mouth in to the Cheek, & shooting pains
strike down from the Chin to the Throat; it
is ulcerated, very painfull at times, bleeds
frequently, in Short the poor Man is in a
most deplorable. condition, seldom getting any
rest in the night time
.


The Gentleman is Mr. Fraser of Gortuleg Father
to Mr. Fraser writer to the Signet. 1 I am just

return'd from Visiting him and at his ↑sons↑ desire
write this to let you know, that besides
your advice the Old Gentleman express'd a
desire of having the Opinion of some Surgeon
of Eminence, and as he is willing to gratify
him in every thing that can in the least
relieve his distress, to beg that you would
{illeg} 2 Bearer to bring to you Mr Wood
or any other Surgeon you chose, that after
Consultation he may sign with you some
advice upon the case.


Our Patient has taken Hemlock, a small
dose of which gives him a great degree of
Vertigo. He has been in[use?] to [wach?] the sore
with Aq. Saturn. Goulard. & to anoint it with

a little Soft Pomatum, which I think are
the only Applications he has hitherto made.


I have only to add that I remain with
particular regard
