Sir

I was favored with yours of the 27th Ultimo two
three days ago - and woulde have wrote sooner
but that Dr Stephen was obliged to be in the
Country and could not attend so as to give
you an exact state of my sisters case -
I inclose a letter from him with a full State
he was the Physician attended her before
you see'd her at Edinburgh but has not Seen
her upon this occasion untill about
this day fortnight he has now seen her
five Times - Dr D Brodie is vastly
attentive, but he is now past Ninety
and is so Tedious in his discricption
and so apt to change his opinion I

[Page 2]

thought it better he should not trouble
you - in his Younger days we had no
Physician equal to him - Dr A Bro¬
dies leaving the country so abruptly & not
waiting upon you at Edinburgh has led us into
many Blunders-- I am Sir
