August 12. 1777.


Mr Adamson's Compliments to
D.r Cullen, acquaints that he
received his Letter yesterday.
Waited on Captain Grey & found
him in good Spirits was one hour
out in his Chaise without being
fatigued. his appetite good. has left
of his Ale, is tired almost of his wine
& water so allows a Glass of Geneva
& water once or twice in the Day by
way of Change. his Colour & urine
still yellow a great ↑Granny↑ Scurf comes of
his Skin & several pustules full of
Yellow Sharp aerial matter which
makes little Ulcers & painfull. both
Ankles are [Surkd?] & so painfull that
I hope will prove the Gout. his face
some Days is swell'd & he Complains.

of a heavy pain in his belly I examined
& found little or no Swelling he has
two or three Stools in 24 hours & better
Colourd. as to his thirst he has been
used to drink & still calls often for his
wine & water. he takes the pills constantly
& Infusion. Some of his friends has
advised him to take Millepeds I told
him he might Infuse them in his win{illeg}
& take a Glass twice a Day 'till I
heard from you -


The Family desire their
Respects & I assure you they are
Able & willing to pay your Demands
& Angry the Captain did not pay you
more than he did ---
